My interests
Welcome! In this page, I go into detail on my various interests, hobbies, and whatnot in a little more detail. I have a lot to say for a lot of these, so when I have a bit more to say, there will be links to longer dedicated pages if you'd like to read more.
Video games
One of my earliest interests, and the seed from which many other of my interests stem, from as long as I can remember. I love playing them and I love to make them, sometimes. I'm scared of the industry, so I'm not planning to work in it, but in my free time I do wish to spend my time making some games that are meaningful and interesting in some way.

Drawing and stuff
Also one of my earliest interests, I've been trying to make pictures and doodles in some form for a long time. I've taken a decent few art classes in my time, intra-curricular and extra-curricular. Nowadays I do digital illustration, pencil sketching, and pixel art most, and I think that's what i'm most practiced with. The focus of my art varies, but is usually centered on character drawing. But I've tried a variety of things, here and there and I think I'm decent at it.

Animation
Animation is another one of the earlier interests I entertained. When I was young I spent a decent amount of time trying to make animations, inspired primarily by LEGO stop motion videos, and Flash animations of either video game sprites or stick figures, which usually were inspired by anime, which aside from a few dubbed video game cartoons I wouldn't really explore until a bit later in my life, but obviously is also something I enjoy from time to time.

Music
I've spent a decent portion of my life learning to play music. I've spent a bit less of my time learning to write music, and it hasn't quite clicked with me in the way art and computer programming do, but I still enjoy making it and playing around when I can. I've gotten pretty decent at piano and alto saxophone, though I no longer take lessons for either. I also am interested in electronic music production through DAWs and trackers and other weird little tools.

Programming
I was drawn to programming by the desire to make video games on the computer. For one reason or another I have felt largely alone in this for much of my life, but having made some friends majoring in Computer Science in my time at university has helped a little bit. I've poked around at programming with various things in some form or another, whether for classes or for personal projects. I also find myself interested in looking at hacking / modding certain video games, which is tangentially related, but I don't really find myself doing that very often nowadays.

Cooking
Somewhat recently compared to a lot of my other interests, I decided I wanted to learn more about cooking..! It's fun, and it's a nice thing I can do for myself and for my loved ones. That said, I don't buy groceries very often at the time of writing, so I don't practice it as much as I'd like.. But there's a handful of things I think I've gotten good at, or at least that are easy enough for me to handle, and I like helping out when there's cooking to be done, if there's a need for it. It's very rewarding to cook something that tastes nice, even if it's not super difficult...
RECENTLY COOKED: rice served with furikake and soy sauce (rice cooker is nice to use..)
